Mt. Rubidoux, Riverside, California
This is my personal website. My name is Judd Lillestrand.
I love meeting good people, entrepreneurship, software development, exploring national parks, snowboarding, swimming and helping others.
I grew up in Highland, California and now live in Redlands, California. In the past, I've lived in Santa Barbara, Las Vegas and San Francisco, all great parts of the country.
I don't have a set schedule for publishing content on this website, but thought it was due time to have a place where I can write and share more about my myself. I also want to have full ownership of my content so I manage this website myself.
It's easy to get in touch with me, just send me a note: email@example.com.
I accept contract work and consult for startups. I'm primarily hired to develop applications using Ruby on Rails. I'm a well rounded software developer who can work on all aspects of an application. I'm super friendly and was a member of a team which placed 9th out of 500 entires during the 2012 Rails Rumble.
I'm also strong in business development, crafting marketing copy, generating PR and developing growth strategies. If you've got an interesting project, contact me and let's see if it's a fit.
In late 2009, I started building ScripSmart, a gift card rating service. It was my first Ruby on Rails project and venture into the life of an entrepreneur.
In short, ScripSmart rates gift cards based on consumer friendliness. A few national brands like Bass Pro Shops and Cinemark use our ratings to convey a quality gift card program to consumers. ScripSmart has also received some great press. In the process of developing ScripSmart, I became somewhat of an expert on gift cards and often help reporters with their stories.
Most of my volunteer work involves the local user groups in Riverside, California. I was heavily involved in starting and growing the Las Vegas Ruby User Group for 4 years. During that time, I became a better software developer, made several good friends and helped develop the local tech community. While it was a lot of volunteer work, I really enjoyed the process.
After moving to Redlands, I decided to start another user group to help support the great things happening in Downtown Riverside.
I'm a huge fan of retro video games. I even built an arcade machine in order to play the classics with friends.
Getting out of the city and into nature is very healing for me. It's always nice to spend time with those you love.
Seems like I never get to ride the mountain enough. I'm looking for ways to do it more.
